FAQ

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about our tours.

What is your service area?

We run tours in Coos Bay, Bandon, Port Orford, Gold Beach/Agness, and Brookings with surfing lessons in Crescent City, CA.

What is your cancellation and refund Policy?
Any cancellation made at least 48 hours prior to your tour will receive a full refund.
Do you have to be experienced to participate in tours?
We have a tour for everyone. Some of our tours are for more experienced paddlers and some are great for beginner paddlers. If you are not a paddler, then we have a boat tour for you out of Port Orford.
Where do you go on your fishing tours?
We do ocean kayak fishing in Port Orford and Brookings. We also can do a private boat charter for up to three fishers out of Port Orford.
Where can I take a surfing lesson?
We do surfing lessons mostly in Crescent City, CA, but can do some in Port Orford when there is a big enough swell. Call to book your surfing lesson 541-373-0487.
Are there any age requirements for your tours?

It is highly recommended that all paddlers can swim. We do not have a set minimum age for our boat tours. We like to start accepting paddlers at 3 years of age and it is highly recommended that any paddler under 13 goes in a tandem kayak with a responsible adult. There is no age limit, but the participant must feel confident that they are healthy enough to be safe on the water.

Are there weight limits?

Yes, our kayaks can only handle 275 pounds for a single kayak and 525 pounds for a tandem. There is no weight limit for our boat tours, but the participants need to be able to step up and down onto the deck of our boat while docked.

What will we see on the ocean tours?
You can see a variety of wildlife on our ocean tours including, but not limited to gray whales, harbor seals, sea lions, jellyfish, multiple types of sea birds as well as intertidal critters like sea stars, urchin, and sea anemones. You will also see a dramatic coastline with cliffs, kelp forests and sea stacks.
What will we see on the river tours?
On our river tours you can see a variety of wildlife like river otters, muskrat, weasels, harbor seals, and tons of birds like eagles, osprey, great blue heron, hawk, and kingfisher. Some of our freshwater tours are on Wild and Scenic designated rivers so the natural beauty is world class.
Should I bring my camera?

We highly recommend bringing your camera on a boat tour. For our paddling tours, it might be best to leave the camera behind unless it is rated for use in and around water. Our guides will be sure to snap some photos of you while you’re out on your tour as well.
